Scripture Memory with Alicia
Scripture Memory with Alicia is a bite-sized, interactive podcast designed to walk you through Scripture memory, verse by verse, with a clear and structured plan. Each week, you’ll memorize two verses through a sequence of four engaging episodes: two focused on learning the verses, one for prayerful reflection, and one designed for active review, which is perfect for listening while walking, working, or moving through your day. Just show up with a pen, paper or note cards, and a Bible.

Welcome back, y’all! I’ve just finished memorizing Romans 1, though it’s definitely a little rusty, so I’ve added it into my daily review rotation. If you’d rather jump straight into Romans 1:17, feel free to fast forward a bit. Otherwise, here’s a little update on what’s been happening since the last podcast.
Since then, I’ve started working on chapter 2 and mapping out my memorization plan. I decided to use Thomas Meyer’s method of structuring the text into phrases. He lines up the verses with conjunctions often starting each line, and he keeps each line to no more than about eight words.
I’ve taken those phrases and transferred them onto notecards and into a Google Doc. For this chapter, I’m planning to print the Google Doc in a booklet format so I can easily carry it with me wherever I go. I’ll also print a regular copy in phrase format and place it around different areas of my home for quick reviews throughout the day. And of course, the notecards will be coming with me everywhere too.
It’s been really interesting to see how my system continues to evolve as I work through Romans, and I’m curious to see what changes I’ll make along the way.
Okay, so now to the main reason for this podcast! If you’ve been listening for a while, you know I normally focus on helping you memorize larger portions of Scripture. But for a variety of reasons, I’ve decided to encourage you to memorize just one or two key verses from each chapter of Romans, while I continue memorizing larger portions—and ultimately working through the entire book of Romans myself.
And today, we’re finishing up Romans 1 with verse 17. I’ve included the verse in the show notes if you’d like to follow along or need a reference.
So… are you ready to learn this new verse with me?
Romans 1:17 says:
For the gospel reveals
the righteousness of God
That comes by faith
From start to finish
just as it is written:
“The righteous will live by faith.”
I'm going to say it slowly in phrases, say it with me or when I pause.
As you get ready to head into whatever your day holds, say this verse 10 times out loud. Then cover it up and try saying it another 10 times from memory.
And don’t forget to review it using the 20-2-24 method:
20minutes later, 2 hours later, and again in 24 hours.
Till next time, stay rooted!
